Catalina Ureta – Founder of the Somatic Institute

Somatic Institute™ Founder, Catalina Ureta, was born in Chile in the shadow of the magical Andes mountains. After years of spiritual study in Chile, she courageously moved to the United States in 1975 to continue her spiritual and healing work. A certified Kinesiologist and Cranial Sacral worker, Catalina has trained in multiple healing modalities including, PsychoNeuroEnergetics™ (PNE) developed by Judith Johnson, and “Body Electronics” therapy developed by Dr. John Whitman Ray N.D., M.D. (M.A.).

Catalina is gifted with an intuitive ability to understand how energy becomes blocked in the human body and expertly incorporates techniques that release trapped emotions. She was one of the first practitioners to be certified in trauma resolution in Somatic Experiencing® with leading expert Dr. Peter Levine. Her incredible knowledge of the body’s subtle energies and neurological system make her work both penetrating and powerful. For over 20 years Catalina has continued to refine Somatic Experiencing and is credited with developing The Points Holding Process™ and creation of the Somatic Institute™.

When events happen in life that are traumatic, they take us out of our natural way of being and leave behind a host of emotions and sensations that are too overwhelming to express at the time. These unprocessed emotions then become locked in the energetic centers of the body and brain, and if not expressed, can result in chronic stress, organ malfunction, physical ailments and disease, as well as disruptive behavior patterns, phobias and emotional imbalances.

Catalina Ureta has offices in Los Angeles (Venice and West Hills), California, and offers one on one private sessions, including special sessions for children, as well as workshops and group consultations.  She is also available for online consultations via Zoom and Skype.
